Car Not Turning Over Battery Fine
You will need to check for voltage at the small purple wire on the starter solenoid while some one engages the starter. There is an intermittent problem with some cars not turning over that i don't think anybody has positively diagnosed, where the car has power, but turning the key doesn't cause it to turn over.
How to Change Battery Cables Cables, Battery, Car battery
Check the battery connections are tight.
Car not turning over battery fine. If it was the solenoid then you should hear the starter operate like a wurrrr but it wouldn't kick the engine. A cable from the car battery to the rest of the system is disconnected. I have a ford ka and it wont start, battery is fine, its turning over but will not start, loads of petrol in, if i left it for half an hour it would start, but now it wont start at all help
Most can get it to turn over after multiple attempts; This would also make no sound. My car is not turning over.
Drove somewhere, car would not start again. Since the car engine is turning, it means that the starter is working and therefore you can be assured that car battery isn’t the problem. Signs the battery is dead:
Everything turns on fine so i know its not a battery. The battery may not be fine. Sometimes, the reason for a car engine turning but not functioning is simply shortage of fuel!
I changed the plugs do to them being. This is considered a crank, but no start. If you are sure the battery is good and fully charged and the cable connections are all good.
They also said that the alternator was charging up the battery. They charged the battery, and car started fine. If you have checked that already, here are some of the other things you might want to check out.
If either is below 10.5 volts, work backwards from there to find out why. Lights are not high load,so having the lights work is not an indicator of how healthy your battery is. On 10/03/2016 at 03:38, theezenutz said:
Everything that you described makes it clear that the battery is extremely weak. If it is low, the battery will never fully charge. Garage said that when they first tried to start it would not turn over, they checked the battery and it was low.
Car won’t start, but will crank. By saying that the engine won't turn over means that the crankshaft isn't turning, so the other parts won't be able to move to start the car. I'm wondering if it is a starter or fuel pump and i don't know how to tell which it is.
This may make a clicking sound. When you turn the key or push a button to start a car, the battery sends electricity to the starter motor which signals the crankshaft to start turning. A loose connection may prevent your car from starting, even when the lights, radio, etc., may seem to be working fine.
~checked battery (charged and tried again) ~checked plugs. If jump starting gets your engine started and running, but the car will not start again once you turn it off, the battery is probably the problem. The starter motor might be broken or faulty.
In the order i did it, to figure out what the problem was: When you attempt to engage the ignition to start, you can hear the clicking sound of the starter trying to crank the engine, but it fails to fire up completely. If you have good voltage at the purple wire and at the large battery terminal both, you will need to replace the starter.
It must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. Although the alternator is not directly responsible for the vehicle failing to start, it could be the cause of a faulty battery. I was on my way again £125 lighter.
When you attempt to start the car, there is a low whining sound. Usually it will show signs of wearing out by not turning consistently before it. If the voltage is okay, the second half of the test requires a professional load tester.
If you do have a voltmeter, measure the battery voltage with the engine running. Car will crank fine, but will not start. It turns over great tries to fire and catch then acts like it gives up and you just hear it turning over.
A battery is vital to your car or truck, as it provides power to the starter and electrical system when the car is not running. There is something wrong with the engine, e.g burnt out spark plugs, something gumming up the fuel line, a cylinder is blown. Battery is charged and alternator is fine, but car won’t turn over:
